MAUREEN - "Anything paranormal and supernatural holds my imagination, but magic and witches fascinate me the most. Unlike other monsters and fantasy creatures, witches don't have a known weakness or limitation. Reading and writing about magic and spells is a fun way to expand my imagination." ~ Maureen Bonatch
PG - "Ooh, hard question. I think I'll have to go with the Fae—the Tylwyth Teg, the Seelie Sidhe, or whichever group you favor. Will I incur their wrath if I call them monsters? Hopefully not! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE vampires to death, but there are A LOT of vamps out there and I'm picky. Currently, I'm getting my fae-fix via Dani Harper's awesome Grim series." ~ PG Forte
LINDA - "My favorite monster is the classic Frankenstein. Here is a creature who terrifies people, but has no idea why. He is an innocent who never had a chance at a real life because of his appearance. You can’t help but feel for it." ~ Linda Mooney
RUTH - "My favorite monster is Godzilla. My son and I watched Godzilla movies every Saturday morning when he was in grammar school." ~ Ruth A. Casie
CINDY - "My favorite monster is definitely the dragon. My only tattoo is dragons twined around my ankle in a Celtic knot. I have dragon statuettes and other dragon artwork all over my writing space. I think the appeal is the mix of strength, magic, and knowledge. Also, in most artwork, they're simply gorgeous." ~ Cindy Spencer Pape
DANI - "I LOVE MONSTERS!!! When I was a kid, our local station ran a double-feature every Saturday afternoon: a horror movie and a sci-fi movie. I never missed it, and even today, my family knows that if there's any sort of monster involved — movie, tv show, book, museum or event — I'm all in! My favorites are creatures from folklore and legend, from werewolves to ghosts to faeries and beyond. If it has a history attached to it, I want to know everything about it. And it's even more fun when I get to write about monsters in my novels!" ~ Dani Harper
ANGELA – "It's nearly impossible for me to choose only ONE monster I love — Loch Ness Monster, Frankenstein, werewolves! — but for the sake of this post, I'll go with vampires. I am a huge fan of the Universal Horror Movies of the 20s-40s, and Bela Lugosi's "Dracula" is iconic for a reason. He creates a layered character you're not sure if you want to root for or against. One of my top five favorite movies of all time is also "The Lost Boys." So is 1985's "Fright Night." Maggie Shayne's "Wings in the Night" series are some of my favorite books. Vampires can be sexy, scary, or tragic, depending on which trope you care for most. Shoot, sometimes, they even sparkle!" ~ Angela Campbell

Dracula
ReplyDeleteFor certain it's Godzilla.
DeleteDracula for me also! The Original is usually always the best!
DeleteDracula is definitely a classic! The original book by Bram Stoker has never been out of print since it was first published in 1897! I admit to having a soft spot for "creature features" like Godzilla though...
DeleteVampires are my favorite!
DeleteDracula for me! I have loved Bela Lugosi since I was a kid. There have been others I flirt with but Bela holds my heart.
ReplyDeleteHe really set the tone, didn't he? Did you know that Bela was born on October 22, 1882? That's five years before Bram Stoker wrote Dracula!
DeleteTrolls and witches. Both often maligned for no good reason. Trolls are usually not assigned terribly complex characters, which seems unfair but does leave a writer a lot of room to work with. Witches, always complex, and always interesting.
ReplyDeleteI agree - there's a lot of room for creative interpretation, which is wonderful for a writer. And I tend to feel sorry for trolls who are usually depicted as violent and not very smart --- but then most of the old legends say the same.
DeleteMy favorite "monster" is a really tough question for me. I love all the different, misunderstood, and scary creatures. I love witches but don't know if they qualify as monsters, so I'll go with werewolves. I love the idea of them being more than the sun of their parts. When they have their own culture or honor system that makes them more than just mere "monsters".
ReplyDeleteI adore shapeshifters. My wolfen changelings in my first series have a definite code of honor and basic laws that govern them.
DeleteI understand exactly. We're listing our favorite "monsters" but ones like witches, dragons, vampires and shapeshifters (wolves) especially the reason I like them so much is for the basic laws and code of honor that they have chosen to govern them. And also for their sense of family/ community.
DeleteIf you are looking for my favorite actual monster (sorry to say it) regular old humans.
I love werewolves!
ReplyDeleteIf I had to choose out of all the creatures, I think I would want to be a werewolf.
DeleteI've got a soft spot for Frankenstein. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou really feel for Frankenstein's monster - he didn't ask to be created, and he's not accepted as a person.
Deletewerewolves
ReplyDeleteghosts
ReplyDeleteI have a fascination with ghosts due to family experiences. As a result, I wrote The Holiday Spirit, and enjoyed it so much, I'm writing the sequel.
DeleteFrankenstein
ReplyDeleteVampires and werewolves
ReplyDeleteVampires and Witches!
ReplyDeleteWerewolves have always fascinated me.
ReplyDeleteVampires. ❤️
ReplyDeleteOooohhh thats hard. Classic- Dracula, New- Weeping Angels from Doctor Who
ReplyDeleteOmigosh, the Weeping Angels are CREEPY!
DeleteVery hard question I've always been fascinated with vampires and werewolves
ReplyDeleteBut if I was to pick only one I'd say Frankenstein
I would have to go with dragons, some of my earliest reads had good dragons which the princess helped instead of being sacrificed to.
ReplyDeleteI am a werewolf fan if I had to choose because I love wolves. Would love to win!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite monster is from the Adamm's Family.
ReplyDeleteMy family has always had a soft spot for The Addams Family movies -- we watch them every October!
DeleteCan criptids counts as monsters? I've always loved Nessie.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! I think one of the most thrilling and spine-tingling aspects of cryptids is the
Deletepossibility that they exist!
My favorite monsters are werewolves!
ReplyDeletevampires are male vampires that is but the new king kong is plus the old Godzilla are 2nd & 3rd
ReplyDeleteI think the newest movie, Kong: Skull Island, absolutely ROCKED! The effects were stellar and the storyline fresh and interesting.
DeleteVampires are my monster of choice, but I have to say "Pennywise" the clown has given me nightmares since reading IT 25 years ago!
ReplyDeleteVampires. My family is a huge Godzilla fan. We have almost all the movies (including black and white) and lots of figurines.
ReplyDeleteI love the classic monsters like Frankenstein, Wolfman, Dracula, Creature from the Black lagoon, the thing.
ReplyDeleteI am fascinated by witches!
ReplyDeleteAs a writer, I am too! There are endless possibilities to build a story around.
DeleteThe classic monster Dracula!
ReplyDeleteDracula
ReplyDeleteI love monsters, but if I have to pick just one, I guess it would have to be Ursula the Sea Witch!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the movie is Ursula singing "Poor Unfortunate Souls"!
DeleteVampires
ReplyDeleteVampires are my favorite monster!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Vampires!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is definitely vampire! :)
ReplyDeleteI love vampires 🧛♀️
ReplyDeleteI don’t like monster per se, but if I have to choose ...dragon. Does it qualify as monster??
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! Just think of Smaug in The Hobbit, wreaking havoc on the unfortunate village.
DeleteMy favorite monster is Dracula!
ReplyDeleteWerewolf
ReplyDeleteVampires have always been my favorite.
ReplyDeleteVampires
ReplyDeletebanshee
ReplyDeleteOooo, that's a good one! The Irish banshee is a female spirit that only appears at the death of a family member and wails in mourning. In Celtic legend, most families had one attached to it.
DeleteGossamer is my favorite monster.
ReplyDeleteDracula, loved him (fearfully) since I was 7.
ReplyDeleteThe wyvern would be my favorite monster. Not a dragon, because I see them as big and bulky, but a sleek, fast, ultra toothy, flying fearsome predator. But that's not the scariest monster I can think of. The Alien in the second movie Aliens...that's the scariest...or an enormously big giant spider which amounts to the same thing, minus some quirks like acid-blood.
ReplyDeleteI agree that wyverns tend to be a little more serpentine, with only two legs instead of four. Definitely built for flying!
DeleteWerewolves!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite monster is Frankenstein. I remember when I was little, hiding my head at the movie theater watching the original Frankenstein movie.
ReplyDeleteI love all the superrnatural creatures, the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park, Meg the megdolon, but Godzilla has been at the top of the list.
ReplyDeleteJurassic Park has such awesome beasts! I really like Godzilla too --- maybe JP is the modern version of that for us.
DeleteI'm a big fan of ghosts!!! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteVamps and Dracula for me. One of first larger books was Interview with a Vampire
ReplyDeleteMy favorite monster is The Creature From The Black Lagoon.
ReplyDeleteAnother misunderstood monster! I felt so sorry for him when I first saw the movie as a kid. I'm looking forward to seeing the what I believe to be a modernized version, The Shape of Water.
DeleteMy favorite monster is the clown from the movie "IT"
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is one creepy monster! Tim Curry was amazing in that role, but Bill Skarsgård has taken it to a whole new level in the recent remake.
Deletemy favorite is Dragons with wings and able to breath fire. TFSs.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite monster is the typical zombie.
ReplyDeleteEver since 28 Days Later, when zombies were presented as fast, agile, and rage-filled, they've terrified me. When I first saw that movie, I had to sleep with the lights on!
DeleteThat's not an easy choice! I don't really have a fav - they can all scare me! LOL! I'll pick Killer Klowns from Outer Space! We just attended Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights and they had a Killer Klown scare zone that was spooky fun!
ReplyDeleteClowns have scared me since I was a little kid. I don't think I'd survive Orlando's Killer Clown Zone!
DeleteDracula
ReplyDeleteMy favorite monsters: Cookie monster and Frankenstein's monster
ReplyDeleteWerewolves
ReplyDeleteVampires are my first love!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite monster is the Cookie Monster! Nothing is better than a monster who devours cookies ;)
ReplyDeleteWerewolves. I have a thing for canines.
ReplyDeleteI love werewolves, and shapeshifters in general :)
ReplyDeleteWerewolves are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteI love vampires and werewolves!
ReplyDeleteMy fave monster has always been vampires followed closely by Freddy Krueger (in the later movies because he was funnier - that dry humor made him more “likable” if possible)
ReplyDeleteYou have to love a monster with a wit!
DeleteIt's got to be Dragons for me. Whether they are good, bad or a little of both I just think they a fascinating.
ReplyDeleteVampires !
ReplyDeleteWerewolves are my favorite and Vampires a second best.
ReplyDeleteI love quite a few different monsters but I'll go with Lon Chaney's Werewolf.
ReplyDeleteCarol Luciano
Lucky4750 at aol dot com
"The Man of a Thousand Faces" played a darn good werewolf!
DeleteVampires and shifters
ReplyDeletemy favorite would be Frankenstein
ReplyDeletetiramisu392 (at) yahoo.com
I love all Creature's but Werewolves are at the top along with Phoenixes, Dragons, and Vampires.
ReplyDeletePhoenixes are one legendary creature we don't get to see enough of. I was so pleased that the Harry Potter stories featured one as Dumbledore's companion.
DeleteWerewolf marci-lyn@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteDracula! Love Vampires!
ReplyDeleteFrankenstein has always been my favourite monster.
ReplyDeletelindacfast@hotmail.com
Ghosts and witches
ReplyDeleteMy favorite monster is Dracula :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win & HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Shifters (dragons included), white witches, vampires!
ReplyDeleteBut just for a scare the pants off you monster Pennywise.
My favorite monsters are vampire Edward Cullen from "Twilight" the saga or Angelus a.k.a Angel from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and the spin off series "Angel." Or werewolf Scott McCall on "Teen Wolf" and friendly ghost Casper or the monsters that were created by people themselves, with their fear and/or actions on two of Disney Channel's original movies "Don't Look Under the Bed" and "Girl vs. Monster." I'm just a huge sucker for monsters that are expected to do evil but do good instead or spooky tales that end with valuable lessons.
ReplyDeleteAlso I had forgotten to mention Sabrina the teenage witch. It's impossible for me to choose just as one as my favorite.
DeleteSome of my favorite characters too! I think that's one of the biggest attractions of paranormal romance and fantasy romance for me - that the monster can be the hero!
DeleteI'm going with the were-tiger..I know they aren't the usual choice, but I have read some pretty impressive sagas involving them!!
ReplyDeleteI love Dali Harimau, the were-tiger in the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews!
DeleteDefinitely zombies!
ReplyDeleteFavorite is vamps.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite monster is Frankstein
ReplyDeletevampire
ReplyDeleteVampires, werewolves, and ghosts. usually, they're all misunderstood.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite monster of all time is Godzilla. He's awesome and I've loved him since I was a little girl. Next would be dragons and shifters ((werewolves count in that..) it's always fun to read about them and what exciting things they have.
ReplyDeleteVampires are my favorite (even better if they look like Angel from Buffy)
ReplyDeleteMy all time fave is a witch because of the fact they were conceidered real and alot of people died being accused if beibg a witch!also i like how a witch dont have to be ugly as they usually are seen as in books & movies, when really they can be gorgouse but be very nasty!
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be Dracula whether played by the one and only Bela Lugosi or the Hammer Horror Christopher Lee or the modern Gary Oldham.. love them all....
ReplyDeletefrankenstein!!all time favorite!!
ReplyDeleteDracula is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteDracula. The best.
ReplyDeleteI love paranormal, supernatural, and mythical creatures! There are so many. I like wolves, dragons, big cats, faeries, wizards, witches, and so on, but I don't like any scary type monsters. My all time favorite creature is the unicorn.
ReplyDeleteI love vampires and dragons!
ReplyDeleteI love Dracula and Frankenstein!
ReplyDeleteVampires and dragons
ReplyDeleteDracula has always been my favorite.
ReplyDeleteShifters, I flove them!
ReplyDelete#whychoose! I love me some werewolves and vampires and demons oh my! But I must admit I love any version of the Fae, especially when they're murderous and scary :)
ReplyDeleteI love monsters from myths like the fae, dragons, and I do love Dracula.
ReplyDeleteVampires are my favorite monster!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG All the monsters. They all need love!
ReplyDeleteWerewolfs are my favorite
ReplyDeleteIf I had fo pick just one, I would have to pick the Fae.
ReplyDeleteDragons are my favorite 'monster'...I have dragons all around me; from a 1 inch ceramic dragon to a 6 feet long stuffed dragon with an 8 foot wingspan. And everything in between.
ReplyDeleteI like vampires the best.
ReplyDeleteMine would be a hell cat :)
ReplyDeleteI love vampires! They always been my favorite shifters are great and wizards and warlocks too, Fae and others supernatural beings are good too but ive always loved vampires.
ReplyDeleteWolf shifters
ReplyDeleteVampires. Bela Lugosi was my first love as a child.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite monster is hard to determine. I love so many different types. Shifter. Demon, vampire, fae. Mythological.. ugh. Why choose?
ReplyDeleteDragon or Phoenix, can never decide.
ReplyDeleteIt's so hard to pick just one. If I had to I'd say Shapeshifters
ReplyDeleteAny of joely sue burkhart's Aima.
ReplyDeleteI love vampires of all kind - I love the tortured-ness of them and how the craving for blood is analogous to the craving for sex :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite monster is The Blob! I was always.so scared of it as a child know it's still scary but one of my favorites
ReplyDeleteHAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
That's such a classic! Love it!
DeleteMy favorite monster would be the siren.
ReplyDeleteI think they would count?
Definitely! In the old legends they used to deliberately lure ships onto the rocks with their voices and drown any survivors. That's pretty monsterish!
DeleteMy favorite monster is shapeshifters how amazing would not be to turn into any animal so.awsome!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance
Happy Halloween!
I'd definitely choose to be a shapeshifter myself!
DeleteMy favorite monster is Frankenstein. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI always loved vampires, because they used to be human, and that's interesting to change fully into what hunted you. How do you come to terms with that?
ReplyDeleteThat's an excellent question. I think Joss Whedon explored it somewhat in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, but it would be a different answer for every individual.
DeleteShifters!
ReplyDeleteVampires !
ReplyDeleteShifters of any kind
ReplyDeleteWhat is YOUR favorite "monster"?
ReplyDeletewell, classic monster roster i would say Frankenstein's monster because of the tragic history
as for big beasts of course the king Gojira
Frankenstein is a compelling story - the pathos of the monster is unforgettable. But I'm with you on Gojira (Godzilla) --- I'll watch ANY movie version of this big ol' Kaiju!
DeleteShifters are my favorites.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite monsters are cat shifters. (jozywails@gmail.com)
ReplyDeleteWolfen shapeshifters are still my favorite but since reading the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews, I have a whole new appreciation for feline shifters!
DeleteDracula will always be my fav monster
ReplyDeleteI love a good Muppet monster (thinking Grover or Gonger lately), because I'm pretty easily spooked!
ReplyDelete--Trix
Creature from the Black Lagoon. xD
ReplyDelete
