Pssst.
Hey, you.
Yeah, you.
Do you like fantasy?
Do you like urban fantasy?
What about clowns?
No, wait – don’t run away! There aren’t any clowns, I
promise.*
There, that’s better. I have for you, oh fearless lover of
urban fantasy, a unique opportunity. Have you ever wanted to read the authors
listed below? What about getting your hands on a collection of kick-ass short stories
by them – before it hits the sales shelves? Yeah, that’s what I thought. Since
I am also, secretly, the seventh author in that list, I was lucky enough to get
my hands on an ARC (advance reading copy – not quite the final version, but
still a beauty of a book) of the CARNIEPUNK anthology before it goes on sale. This trade paperback is loaded to the furry gills with stories of magic, love, corndogs, trickery, mayhem and - most importantly - carnies. And I want to give it to you.**

Clowns are sooo creepy. Yikes! And I read the Jennifer Estep story - really awesome! I can't wait to read the rest of the anthology.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy it, Rebe!
DeleteSounds intriguing!
ReplyDeleteSome of the stories are straight-up crazy, Simon!
DeleteLobster and crab. They look like aliens and I don't understand how anyone would want to eat something they have to use a pair of pliers on. :D
ReplyDeleteBut aliens are so delicious! Except I can't eat crab after reading a Haruki Murakami short story about "snow crab". *dies inside a little more*
DeleteSpiders creep the hell out of me. Especially the small ones that you seem to always find around your bed just as you are about to turn off the light. @CathyInCanada
ReplyDeleteSo...uhm...if I don't see them, does that mean they're already in my bed? O.0
DeleteRoaches. I have always had this deadly fear of them since I was a kid and watched a movie where they swarmed a woman. Ugh, even typing it creeps me out.
ReplyDeleteREADING IT CREEPS ME OUT AS WELL *runs away*
DeleteAnything with pincers. Because I know every time it moves, it's getting closer to eating me.
ReplyDelete*adds entry into journal of nightmares*
DeleteI was a carny and carnies are for the most part nice, well-adjusted people but there were some creeps...
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading this collection...
Michael C.
There are creeps everywhere. The summer I spent working at carnivals, I met some excellent people.
DeleteWe have a winner! Lisa Arnseth, please email me at regan@regansummers.com with your mailing address.
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone who entered and shared the contest.
Yay! Thank you so much. I'm very excited to read this! :-)
