Win-A-Book Wednesday with...Annie Nicholas!

Posted by: Jane Kindred

Annie Nicholas

Annie Nicholas writes paranormal romance with a twist. She has courted vampires, hunted with shifters, and slain a dragon’s ego all with the might of her pen. Riding the wind of her imagination, she travels beyond the restraints of reality and shares them with anyone wanting to read her stories. Mother, daughter, and wife are some of the other hats she wears while hiking through the hills and dales of her adopted state of Vermont.

Annie writes for Samhain Publishing, Carina Press, and Lyrical Press.

Pia Blyton, a succubus, is unofficially engaged to one of the most powerful incubi in Lake City, Valerio Hunan.  She’s hesitant to set a date for a public party where Val will clasp his engagement bracelets on her wrists because his five wives still haven’t accepted her. It’s not a personal thing, her people don’t get jealous like mortals and most don’t believe in love, but because she has nothing to offer to their family. At twenty-five she has always lived with her parents, had never held a real job, or finished college. She doesn’t understand Val’s hurry.

Valerio keeps pushing Pia to set a date for their engagement. Doesn’t she understand that as long as it’s unofficial his wives could still annul the whole thing? So far they have indulged his affection for Pia to keep him happy but succubi can be fickle and he didn’t want to take any chances. Even worse, the packages of energy his wives ususally send him weren’t arriving. Were they out of their minds refusing to feed him?

Driven by hunger Val struggles to not kill his one true love. Pulling on her big girl pants, Pia has to figure out how to feed him without burning herself out.

This is a fun, hot read. I wrote this series for exactly that purpose. It's pure escapism. I've always said I'd love to have Pia's problems. LOL

Going Off Cable

Posted by: Annie Nicholas

We did it. A few months ago we shut off cable. The only person using it was my husband. It took some hand holding and lots of reassurance but he survived. He now knows how to use the internet and has not uploaded a virus to my laptop...yet.

I observe my kids and their generation with their Youtube obsession and wonder what the future will hold for entertainment. Some Youtube personalities seem as popular as movie stars. I, personally, am a Netflix junkie. (And other such services like HBOGO). I like to watch a show when I want to and have the whole series available if I want to binge.

This is my present list of shows. I haven't started the last two but I'm sure by the end of summer I will have started.

Shows on my watchlist:

The Leftovers
Tru Blood (catching up)
Hemlock Grove
Carnivale
Beauty and the Beast

We also do a retro movie night at my place, where hubby and I show the boys our old favorites. Sometimes it's torture for them, sometimes they surprise me. We just finished going through all of Clint Eastwood's spaghetti westerns. They loved The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. I never would have guessed my techno geek boys would love cowboys movies.

Movies on our watchlist:

Fright Night
The Frighteners
King Kong (the old version)

So it's my birthday this week and every year I celebrate with a giveaway! I'm giving away signed copies of both Ravenous and Scent of Salvation plus a $10 GC.
