Which New Paranormal TV Show is Right for You? A Flow Chart

Posted by: A. J. Larrieu
Am I the only one astonished by the number of new television shows out this season with a paranormal or science fiction twist? I count at least five new series, plus plenty of returning shows and more on the horizon. Some are definitely better than others, but it's safe to say that whatever flavor of speculative television you prefer, the fall lineup has you covered.

If you're like me, and your schedule (not to mention your DVR) can't handle the influx, I give you this handy flow chart to help narrow down the new (and a few not-so-new) options:

.

Personally, I'm devouring past seasons of Doctor Who in a desperate attempt to catch up, anxiously awaiting Bitten, and catching occasional episodes of The Walking Dead and The Originals. What are you watching this season?

  1. I try to control my time wasting, I mean research viewing, but I love Sleepy Hollow, Grimm, and Once Upon a Time. I've been totally unsuccessful in explaining any of them to my non-paranormal-loving BFF.

  2. My husband doesn't understand my Doctor Who obsession. They don't know what they're missing. ;)

Now I'm struck all over again by the volume of paranormal shows out there. Grimm and Once, as you mentioned, plus Arrow, Lost Girl, American Horror Story... And Supernatural's still going, right? I'm sure there are more I can't recall right now. I've been wanting to watch Grimm (for research purposes, of course), but I haven't had the time. :/

  3. I love the flow chart! (I don't think I've ever actually said that before.) My favorites for new shows this season are Sleepy Hollow and AHS. I also really like Almost Human so far although that's technically SF. My husband doesn't get Doctor Who either but my daughters love it. We're having a 50th anniversary party this weekend and they made a power point presentation for their non-Whovian friends.

  4. LOL! Nice chart. I totally forgot Bitten was coming! Man, am I glad I forced myself to cut out some other shows or I'd be a zombie couch potato this season.

    1. I know! I'm very excited about Bitten. I wonder if they'll take on multiple POV characters the way the books have, or if they'll focus on Elena and expand that story. Also hoping they do it justice! Bitten is one of my favorite books.

  5. Agents of Shield. Sleepy Hollow. Doctor Who. AJ, maybe the husband will regenerate in his sleep to someone who gets Who. If not, you can always change companions. Works for The Doctor. ;)
