You're Gonna Luuurve It!

Posted by: Nadia Lee
Dragon BoundRecently I've been seeing glowing reviews of Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison everywhere. Even several of my friends whose taste I trust said I should get it because I'd luuurve it.

So of course I bought a copy, and BookDepository delivered it last week.

But I haven't started reading it yet.

I'm somewhat scared that my expectations for the book may be too high, and I'll end up disappointed no matter how awesome the story is. (My BFF is calling me chicken over this right now lol)

Have you read Dragon Bound? What do you think?

Also have you ever been disappointed by a book that was hyped by everyone?

  1. I read reviews, but ultimately I have to read an excerpt to see if I like a book's prose. If I like it enough to buy it, I don't worry about whether the book's been hyped or not. I did that with Dragon Bound, and so far, I love the book.

  2. That's funny. I just had this conversation on twitter last night.
Haven't read it yet. Probably will. Maybe I'll love it. I had the same reluctance with the Iron Duke which I really liked.
I read the excerpt but it didn't sway me either way except I thought it read like contemporary romance...if that makes sense.

  3. I have this fear a lot. I don't know why it bothers me. Obviously, if I pick up a book and don't like it, I can just read another one! But for some reason, certain books do that...like the Harry Potter series. I still haven't read this because I somehow can't bring myself to believe the hype, no matter how many thousands and thousands of other readers prove that it's going to be awesome. However, now I've finally bought the books so I won't waste my money and I'll be reading them this summer!

  4. I haven't read it, but the cover model is delicious! I'm still trying to get caught up on my blog-mates' Carina Press books to I can star them, etc. Plus, just got through the editing for my upcoming release. I'll put it on my summer reads list.

  5. I haven't read Dragon Bound.
I've read (or half read)lots of books that haven't live up to their hype. Instead of listing them, I'll mention one that lived up to the hype big time: The Time Traveller's Wife. I loved that book!

  6. It's weird. A little bit of hype and I'm intrigued. A lot of hype and I start dithering -- can it really be that good?

Dragon Bound hasn't made it onto my TBR pile yet, but...

  7. @Heather K - I read excerpts too, but if reviews are all too positive, I have unrealistically high expectations for excertps as well. *sigh* I'm glad you're loving DRAGON BOUND. I should really start reading it.

@Eleri - Iron Duke is another one I'm reluctant to pick up right now because so many loved it, and I'm afraid I'm going to be the only one who doesn't b/c of high expectations.

@JK Coi - Ohh...Harry Potter. You know, it took me a long time to pick it up, but when I did, I devoured the first three books in 2 days. It was agonizing to wait for the rest.

@Barbara Longley - Yeah, the cover model is very yum. :-)

@Janni Nell - I have TT's Wife on my TBR pile. I'll move it up.

    @Jenny Schwartz - Exactly!
