Top series I'd like to see on HBO

Posted by: Unknown
I'm a big fan of HBO series. My favorites are True Blood, Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire. I think HBO does an incredible job of casting and producing complex multi-character worlds in a way that draws me into the story just like a good book. Here are my top three picks for other paranormal series I'd like to see on HBO.

1. Mercy Thompson Series by Patricia Briggs

I love this one because of the strength of the secondary character cast.

Who wouldn't like to see Adam and Samuel, Bran and Mercy walking around in the fascinating world Patricia Briggs has created?

2. Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost

Interesting and flawed female lead and loads of action but when it really comes down to it, this pick is all about Bones.

3. Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning

Okay, so I've made no secret of the fact that this is one of my favorite series. It's very dark. The morality of the characters is...um, ambiguous at best. There's actually very little sex in the series but it's one of the sexiest series out there.

Which series would you like to see?

  1. I've always wished they could have brought Dragonriders of Pern to the screen. I had read there were attempts to reach a deal but of course at that time Hollywood wanted to change the whole thing so Anne McC said no. Could I have Nalini Singh's Psy Wars? Or the Guild Hunters? Pretty please? GREAT post!

  2. That's so funny! I almost put Anne McCaffrey on the list but then changed my mind because I'm not sure they could pull off the dragons. But if they could...
I've only read one of the Psy Wars books and had trouble getting into it. I think because it seemed more scifi to me. That said, I tend to like scifi better on screen than paper.

  3. I'd love to see Keri Arthur's books as a series. Love her Riley Jensen Guardian books. And the Black Dagger Brotherhood books, although those might need a big screen. :D

  4. The Deverry series by Katherine Kerr--it would be a long running TV show as there are 14 books, but it would be awesome. Magic, elves, humans, dwarves, battles, and the occasional dragon.

Susan Squires ‘companion’ Vampires would make a nice historical/vampire show.

  5. I would love to see the Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward, and Lords of the Underworld by Gena Showalter. OMG the cast they would have to get for those would have to be delish!!!;-)

  8. It's my understanding that there is a movie in the works for the Fever Series. If that doesn't work out, a TV show would be awesome.

  9. Really??? That's awesome! I wonder who they'll cast for Barrons.

  10. I know! He's going to very hard to cast.

  11. I don't think I could watch a TV series of Patricia Briggs' series ... I just wouldn't believe any actor could play Bran properly. They'd cast some teenage-college kid looking actor and I'd be all no-no-no because Bran has a tougher edge and ... well, you might have guessed, I'm a Bran-fan :)

I wouldn't mind seeing Lisa Shearin's fantasy series on TV ... and I adore the two Terry Pratchett TV movies I've seen, Hogfather and The Thief of Time.

  12. Great post Eleri! I'd definitely watch a Mercy series. I would gladly watch the Black Dagger Brotherhood or Riley Jenson too! I think that Chloe Neill's Chicagoland vampire series would be awesome to watch also!

  13. Mercy would be my top pick. I'd love to have a weekly date with Bran and his boys. ;)

  14. Hi Brenda! Hi Hailey!
    Bran has quite the following:D
I think they could find someone to play him. Someone like Jensen Ackles from Supernatural maybe?
